HANDZONe
A virtual robotics lab for practising before stepping up to the real robot.

The problem
Physical robots are a limited classroom resource. Students need a way to practise operation independently and collaborate safely.
The work
HANDZONe is a hybrid robotics learning platform developed at TU Delft NewMedia Centre. Students operate a Universal Robots digital twin in VR, practise with its teach pendant, and connect parametric Grasshopper workflows to the virtual robot. The platform links web services, containerized robot sessions, and the Unity experience.
My contribution
Software developer at TU Delft NewMedia Centre, working on the platform that connects immersive robot interaction with web services and classroom session infrastructure.
The result
Supports 20+ concurrent virtual robot sessions for individual and collaborative learning.
- A virtual practice environment for architectural robotics education
- Open-source code and published demonstration recordings
- Concurrent sessions beyond the capacity of a single physical robot
